Biden's speech -- a legacy that lasts
Yesterday, the president gave a magnificent speech with just the right intensity
and emotion. Mr. President, I loved the speech! Now let's all of us, each and
every one of us, who love fairness, justice and democracy go out and scream: I'm
mad as hell and I am not going to be lied to anymore. We MUST all of us support
our democracy and the plethora of humane and enduring principles that form of
government reflects. We must be a smart people, a humane people and one that
does not shirk conveying those principles loudly and with a passion that meets
the moment. We must do this because we care about what we leave to the next
generation in the pursuit of power not because it makes individuals great but
because it makes our nation great. What we show to the next generation and to
all the generations after that the promise that is the American experiment will
be the legacy that lasts. "We have a democracy, ... " Benjamin Franklin said to
a woman who asked him what form of government the Founders created, IF YOU CAN
KEEP IT. YES, WE CAN AND YES WE MUST!
