A Broken Heart and a Soul to Forfeit

My heart is broken.  My friends do not want to listen to me anymore inconsolable in grief by the damage this president has done.  The damage, though, is incalculable and the war waged on the poor monumental that I simply cannot ignore it as much as I promised not to write one more thing.  From the courts to domestic and international politics Trump's administration is a train wreck for those who can least afford to suffer it.  The buck, as Harry Truman said, stops with the president.

To put the icing on this corrupt cake Al Franken it is said will resign tomorrow under the "Me Too" sexual harassment accusation orgy.  My heart is truly broken for what has befallen him.  Franken won by a slim margin in Minnesota and showed us how very smart he is.  He was the liberal's liberal and the progressives'  cause for hope. Now that is gone with so many Democrats asking him to resign.  I think he will sadly do so.  If he does Franken will be gone and the allegedly religious man and former judge, Alabama Republican Roy Moore, someone who committed the most egregious sexual sin of all, pedophilia, will be hypocritically seated in the United States Senate. 

Even worse, the king of hypocrites, the president, has been accused by so many women of multiple serious sexual batteries by his own admission on the Access Hollywood tape entered the oval office like a bull in a china shop.  The State Department has been emptied of its ambassadors and personnel.  Nation states around the world formerly our allies are turning their back on us.  Britain our "special relationship" ally does not want to permit Trump into their nation.  People are sitting in Trump's cabinet woefully unqualified for the job and he is milking the presidency for all the money he can get out of it with conflicts of interest galore, ignoring the Constitution's emoluments clause while he dines on tax increases for the poor and middle class but digests billions of tax cuts for the top 2% including himself though he lies about that as he lies about so many other things like alleged collusion with Russia and money laundering. 

Trump thrives on chaos and conflict like we thrive on bread and water and we are the excrement of his diet.  We the people are the woeful recipient of his madness raising taxes on the middle class and the poor while dramatically decreasing them for those who do not need it and destroying the Affordable Care Act in the process by eliminating the healthcare mandate which effectively crushes the ACA which Republicans have tried a plethora of times to repeal.  They did it by a singularly underhanded tactic of slipping it within the 500 page partially hand written tax bill no one had read because Republicans kept it hidden.  I hope the protests are loud and strong from sea to shining sea ending with sit-ins in Republican offices.  Congressional Republicans' jobs should be threatened and they should feel the public wrath.  I hope Trump faces sleepless nights from a myriad of toxic policies and personal unethical conduct that ends with his removal from office.

I am reminded of a Jesus phrase on which the soulless Trump should contemplate:  "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?" Mark 8:6.  Perhaps, Trump does not worry about that because he has no soul to forfeit.
