The unstable moron: The house of cards is coming down.  In the end Donald Trump is a STUPID man.   He thought he could use the presidency as an authoritarian cash cow.  He thought he would get away with immense power so no one would challenge a thing as he did in his business schemes but this time milk the American taxpayer for all we are worth.  He did not count on one thing because he knows nothing about our system.  He never counted on a document being more powerful than he -- the Constitution and a balance of power. 

Putin must have some unbelievable kompromat on Trump to force him never to utter Russia's name in vain when he insults everyone else.  Why?  I can guess.  His Congressional Republican partners will be jumping like rats off a ship in an attempt to save their vile jobs and their own skin.  They made a losing bet.  May this charlatan con man never rest in peace and may he, his family, and all his cronies get the justice they so richly deserve.  Bless this nation that will be taking down the most powerful man on the planet but in truth he is simply a common criminal as he is alleged to be and an unstable stupid one at that!

A thing of gender idenification

I just watched a very interesting documentary "Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric."  I got it through Netflix but you can view it if you choose by Googling it. 

All of it is interesting but of particular interest to me was the segment on non-western nations which incorporate different sexual identifications of their people without hostility and discord such as Samoa which, in fact, lauds sexual diversity, parts of India (the Hijra) and a part of Mexico (the highly revered Muxe.)  Some even conduct celebrations of that difference.


What surprised me the most, however, was Couric's discussion she had with Rabbi Elliot Kukla, an expert on gender issues, who talked about the Talmud and other classical Jewish texts dating back thousands of years that identified six genders: male, female, tumtum, androgynos, saris and ay'lonit.  He explained that "clearly other variations were there and that they had a system that was not binary."

Personally, I have eschewed faith not only for its irrationality but because I am hostile to what the important text of Leviticus has done that has created mayhem for those who were born with gender identity differences.  It created great unnecessary suffering, ruined lives and even prompted many to suicide.  Our nation obviously wants to return to that oppressive era by Trumpian crushing what little progression has been made on these issues debating the stupidity of who can use what bathroom, who cannot and who will be ostracized as well as bullied because nature dictated something different for them.

This documentary shines a light through expert analysis and through those who experience that gender difference.  Things, in fact, are changing here but for those who experienced a different brutally hostile time the blame of which I put squarely on a variety of Biblical text written by heterosexual men for other men makes me still angry.  The fact that attitudes in the west have changed does not prompt me to forgiveness.  Because of it and other dictates of faith I remained alienated from it.  As Bill Nye the science guy explained there are a host of human sexual differences that the Trumpian Republican right refuses to acknowledge.  No, they choose to add to their swamp more swamp making sure misery prevails for all but the fortunate 2% richest among us whose money allows them to evade national hostility or prosper because of it.

My first inclination is to throw my arms up and say I give up. The nation is 1/2 insane and unless we elect Democrats yes Democrats as they are the only party that can offer a smidgen of hope to undo all these horrific Trump era policies overturning all that has shaped this nation into something civilized. Why in god's name is he -- this know nothing nincompoop crackpot -- voted into the most powerful position on earth where he will put those others in positions of great power to undo all the progressive change that protects all of us even them?

Trump does not care nor do those who he entrusts with power. They care about themselves, their money and that they take it all -- ALL of it. That's it. Does the NRA now give one iota of empathy and tears for the thousands who have lost their lives -- many children -- to gun violence? No one but no one needs an assault rifle nor be allowed to purchase so many bullet clips for it they could take out a military platoon.

No, they are taking out children, teenagers and innocent Americans who left home with a backpack, books, and pencils to go to school but end up dead. Thoughts and prayers will do nothing as evidenced by the continuation of the shooting.  Those in bed with the NRA are a cancer on this nation. This will keep happening again and again of that one can be sure. How much longer will the people allow this to go on with no remedy? As the song says to the twelfth of never.

Our scourge of gun violence will never be addressed until those with humanitarian purposes grab power! Get these Republican beasts out of office. The answer may seem pedestrian but VOTE and RESIST!!

Even a "moderate" Republican senator from Maine, Susan Collins, voted for the Trump Republican tax bill with promises to her by Trump that health care would be dealt with at another time.  Instead the health care mandate of the Affordable Healthcare Act was axed hoping it would spell the death knell of Obamacare.  So far it hasn't done that and if the healthy young keep purchasing health care from it Republicans will have failed yet again for the 50th time to negate it.  People need affordable health care. Trump's promises, though, to Susan Collins as we now know and she surely should have known are excrement.

Below is an interview of Jon Finer found on YouTube.  We in his extended family are very proud of our cousin. His great grandfather was my grandfather's brother. Had they not immigrated to this country so many of us in the second and third generation would not have been born. His great grandfather and my grandfather would have died in the Holocaust as the village they came from 40,000 was wiped out. I am sure he shares my opinion that had it not been for immigration our family would have been killed and Jon to me is proof positive of the greatness of this nation.

A blogger cheered at the Pats loss calling them Trumpkins. To which I said: Not all of them are Trumpkins but it did cross my mind though as one of my friends refused to watch because of Kraft, et al. a big supporter and friend to Drumpf and his corrupt cronies. 

Mr. Kraft, may I suggest you stay out of rooting for Republican extremist nationalist politicians? Did you hear that a Republican running for representative from Illinois is a true Holocaust denier and a member of the Nazi Party in America? He had no Republican opposition in the primary. Mr. Kraft I am Jewish and so are you, therefore, you should think twice about supporting a leader who made it possible for an American Nazi to feel comfortable running as a Republican for the US House unopposed in the primary. The Case for Indictment: Russia probe lawyers think Mueller could indict Trump Many legal scholars doubt a U.S. vs. Trump case is possible, but two attorneys who have dealt with special counsel Robert Mueller's team disagree. One expects Mueller to move as early as this spring

THE CASE FOR INDICTMENT:

To indict this sitting president is for me a depression eradicator.  In truth, though, I think it would be difficult but, perhaps, not impossible.  It has never happened before and there is no precedent for it. I believe precedent should be made. There are instructions within the Constitution for removing a president.  He has been treated as a unique person.  The precedent-setting question of indictment of a sitting president, however, in modern times, has, in fact, been debated and is not without thought about it now.  I would not want to be in Drumpf's shoes.  It would be chilling to think that the genius of Special Counsel Mueller is even having it cross his cerebral cortex. Keep thinking about it, Mr. Mueller. My opinion on the powers of the presidency is evolving and I thank Mr. Trump's heinous actions for that.

I think indictment of a sitting president for criminal acts would set precedent even if a Democratic president were in office. If a sitting president could face criminal indictment for criminal acts he might commit it might make presidents think long and hard -- very long and hard -- about the legality of what they do or say including even the foreign policies they create.

Clearly, the grievous acts and the complexion of the Trump presidency we all see every day, the lies he consistently tells, his immoral actions against women and the politicization of Republicans in Congress defying Democrats any way they can not because they love Trump but because they want to hold on to power. The power to indict a president gives the ability of the special counsel to reclaim justice more quickly.  It makes it clear to me the ability of the Special Counsel Muller to indict Trump would take immense power out of the chief executive's sole dictate and present an impediment to illegal actions the president might commit. It would be, I submit, as the Founders intended the democratic republic they shaped to work and crush future attempts at government in extremis.  

Politico: Independent counsel Kenneth Starr never tried to indict Clinton. But Starr, who filed a damning report to Congress in 1998, considered the option — and even tasked his lawyers with preparing draft indictments, as well as a legal opinion asserting his power to charge Clinton.

“It is proper, constitutional, and legal for a federal grand jury to indict a sitting President for serious criminal acts that are not part of, and are contrary to, the President’s official duties,” Starr’s legal adviser, Ronald Rotunda, concluded in a 1998 memo first made public last summer through an open records request by the New York Times.

“In this country, no one, even President Clinton, is above the law,” the memo said.

Since FDR I have always believed in strong executive power as a way to ensure a president can quickly make policy needed for the common good.  Yes, I said common good.  Since Trump's actions, including obstruction of justice are not for the common good but for the good of enriching Trump himself, his family and his 2% cronies at the electorate's expense I now think his powers must be immediately curtailed.  What you must do, Mr. Mueller, do quickly and if through indictment then let it be so.

Trump presents a clear and present danger to the nation with policies he has enacted solely through hubris and to appease his right wing extremist base.  He believes he can do anything including shooting a person in Times Square as he said in his campaign.  I believe he was not jesting and thinks, as Nixon did, if the president does it it is legal.  Mueller must show him what he has done is not legal and indict him for his democracy obliterating acts.

He is tearing this nation apart aiming to crush the Russia investigation where an adversarial nation was and is allowed to infiltrate the nation, shape a presidential election helping Trump gain power and Russia to accrue power obliterating US sanctions against it.  With the help of his Republican Party once hostile to Russia, he has overtaken our nation's most fundamental democratic mandates and even halted the sanctions imposed upon Russia through a distinct majority in Congress before Trump was elected.  Trump refuses to act on them.   The quid pro quo is this:  Russia helps Trump gain the 2016 presidency and Trump helps Russia avoid sanctions.  That is worth a lot of money to Russia and that is a crime which can alter the foundation of our country.

It is not news that Trump lies and does so all the time. It is not news that Trump has flouted the Emoluments Clause in the Constitution and it is clear that Trump has obstructed justice and has done so many times.  It is not news that Trump has an authoritarian personality wanting power and loyalty to emanate largely from and to him.  We are, however, not a dictatorship ... yet!  We are loyal or should be to our Constitution and nowhere else.

I believe our Founders, in their prescient way, knew through their European experience, the powers that kings could capture at the the expense of the people.  They wanted to curtail a chief executive's behavior in a future era from usurping immense power for himself alone thereby negating the separation of powers our Founders intended the republic to be.  They created the first branch of government, the Congress, as a check against presidential excess.  Simply ask yourself what you think our Founders would have thought about Trump.  It is my argument for indictment of this most deplorable man to more quickly right the nation.  I rest my case.
